Leadership Sessions
Day 4 - Aug. 5

Connecting Homework to Classwork: Equitable Strategies that Support Student Learning
Kathy Vatterott, ASCD National Presenter
8 - 11:15 a.m.

The journey to equitable homework begins by raising teacher awareness of ineffective homework practices, including the misuse of grades.  School leaders must work with teachers and parents to determine the priorities and parameters for homework reform, as well as guide teachers in the development of effective homework practices. Finally, school leaders must revise organizational structures such as schedules and staffing to implement and maintain homework support programs. Through examples of successful K-12 programs, this session will provide the information and inspiration school leaders need to jumpstart change in homework practices in their buildings or districts.
