An Introduction to Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder

This presentation will provide an overview of Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorders through simulation and lecture, and provide participants with lists of intervention strategies organized according to the symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, disorganization, and memory deficits. Topics will include the bio-chemical nature of ADHD, diagnosis and treatment procedures, and a brief review of Russell Barkley's theoretical model describing the role and function of behavior inhibition relative to the development of executive functions.

An Introduction to Asperger's Syndrome

Although Asperger Syndrome was first described in 1944, educators and parents are just beginning to recognize the complexity of this developmental disorder related to Autism. Through lecture, simulations and media, this presentation will overview the clinical descriptions of Asperger's Disorder and highlight the significant impact of the condition on socialization, sensory processing, cognition, language, interests, and behavior. Topics will include diagnosis, treatment and intervention approaches from various disciplines.
