Two Board Members honored at OSBA Conference

Two ESC of Central Ohio Governing Board Members were recognized at the Ohio School Boards Association's 2009 Capital Conference for their outstanding service.

ESC Governing BoardEd Bischoff was recognized for his tenure as immediate past president of OSBA, and Joyce Galbraith was named to the Ohio School Boards Association's 2009 All-Ohio School Board.

Bischoff was president of OSBA in 2008. He has served on the ESC board for 16 years and the Delaware Area Career Center Board of Education for 14 years, and he previously served on the Olentangy Local Board of Education for 12 years.

“It's an honor to be part of the OSBA administration and governance,” Bischoff said. “Being past president is a good place to be. I was able to finish projects I had started, but you don't have the worries of being president.”

Bischoff is an engineer and president of Bischoff Miller & Associates Inc.

The All-Ohio School Board recognizes outstanding service to public education and represents the dedication shown by board members statewide. Galbraith is one of five public school board members named to this honor. She is also a member of the board for Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools.

Galbraith is the assistant director of the master's of education program at Ashland University's Columbus Center.

“My career in education and as a board member truly has been rewarding thus far. Through my work, I see that a difference can be made, and I am fortunate to play a part in that process,” Galbraith said.

She is an active member of OSBA. In addition to serving on several committees and boards-including the association's Board of Trustees-she is president of
OSBA's Central Region and serves on the region's executive committee.

Galbraith was also recognized at the conference by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association for her 20 years of service on the ESCCO Governing Board.

“Having been a part of the transition from a county school board to the influential ESC we are today has been quite an honor. It has been especially exciting to watch the growth and innovation of our agency,” Galbraith said.

“I am certainly proud of my service to the ESC, and I am looking forward to a bright future for myself and the agency.”
