Engaging & Involving Families with Diverse Learners | Mondo Professional Learning

In this full day session, participants will explore the importance of engaging and involving families of diverse learners—particularly the families of EL students—at the district, school, and classroom level. Topics to be explored and addressed will include: – Building trust with the families. – Establishing mutual respect. – Looking beyond traditional parent involvement to effectively support parents and children from diverse backgrounds. – Define effective strategies that could be use with diverse backgrounds. Presenter: Maria Uribe w/Mondo Professional Learning Group and a former first-grade teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Denver Public Schools. Dr. Uribe currently teacher courses in literacy development, instruction, and assessment, as well as mentoring and providing professional development to classroom teachers. Audience: Principals, Teachers of EL students. No cost for ELLAN members. Lunch is on your own.
