Enrichment and Civic Engagement

The Office for Enrichment and Civic Engagement organizes and sponsors a variety of student-centered enrichment opportunities that are available to students in districts served.

Attendance Services

The ESC supplies school districts with a cost-effective method to investigate truancies; reports of educational neglect; alleged work permit violations; approval for Home Education; and perform residency verifications.

Central Ohio Leadership Academy (COLA) Partnership

COLA is a high-impact, six-day leadership development experience for rising high school juniors and seniors in Central Ohio.

Ed PASS is a partnership program of the Franklin County Children Services (FCCS) and the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio. Education Specialists employed by the ESC meet weekly with individual students in foster care set goals for attendance, academic performance and personal development. Specialists provide and coordinate supports to enable students to achieve their goals.

From simple lessons about democracy, to hands-on voting experiences, to working as election officials, Kids Voting is where civics starts.

Mosaic, formerly known as the Christopher Program, was founded in 1990 and has been recognized as one of Ohio’s Best Practices by Ohio’s Education Partnership. The program serves high school juniors and seniors from public schools across Franklin County. Implementing a project-based, integrated humanities curriculum, the Mosaic Program challenges students to become analytic thinkers, effective communicators, successful collaborators, and responsible citizens.

Substance Abuse and Lifestyle Education Family Workshops

The ESC S.A.L.E program is a new intervention program based on the Prime For Life module--a research-based motivational prevention, intervention and pre-treatment program. S.A.L.E. is a lifestyle coaching program available to students making high-risk lifestyle choices.

The ESC’s Youth at the Booth program is a collaboration between the Franklin County Board of Elections, participating school districts and Kids Voting Central Ohio.
