Addressing Mental Health Challenges in the School Setting

March 2 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Mental health in schools as a “silent epidemic”. It is estimated that 1 in 5 students are struggling with serious mental health issues (depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, schizophrenia, attachment, ADHD, autism, eating disorder, OCD, etc.) These disorders directly effect learning and classroom behaviors. In this full-day workshop, educators will learn how to implement evidence-based strategies in the classroom by identifying some of the barriers and developing plans for overcoming them. This workshop does not promise a quick-fix solution, nor does it endorse any one specific program. It is the ultimate goal of the workshop for educators to leave feeling encouraged and empowered with evidence-based strategies to utilize as tools. Participants will be able to:

• Identify signs of mental health needs

• Identify barriers to addressing students’ mental health needs in the classroom

• Explore the impact of an educator’s posture & approach with students

• Understand & implement de-escalation strategies for dysregulated students

• Develop a personal plan using unique strengths and insights while being mindful of their own limitations Cost $99; teams of 3 or more receive $10 discount. Discount will be applied when registration is processed. Lunch will be on your own.
