Purposeful Talk | Mondo Professional Learning

A focus on purposeful talk offers rich potential for deepening comprehension as students explore texts by reading, thinking, and talking with others. Harnessing this potential requires understanding the type of talk needed, and the depth of comprehension possible inside single and across multiple texts. This session offers: – opportunity to reflect on the process of reading, thinking, and talking to understand with depth – an exploration of communication and collaboration – consider strategies for practical classroom application – The role of the teacher in facilitating collaborative talk Presenter: Kia Brown-Dudley – Senior National Literacy Strategist and Consultant /Mondo Professional Learning Group. She travels the country collaborating with Administrators and Teachers to deliver precise, personalized, high-impact Professional Learning to drive classroom outcomes. Her career began in NYC public schools as a Teacher of Reading. Syracuse University Graduate – Master’s in Reading from New York University and completing coursework in International Educational Development at Teachers College, Columbia University. Audience: Elementary Principals, Literacy Coaches, K-5 Teachers, and EL Teachers. ELLAN member districts attend at “No Cost.” Lunch is on your own
