ESC's Business Advisory Council Recognized for Excellence

The ESC's Business Advisory Council was recognized by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) Director Stephen D. Dackin with a 2026 Business-Education Leader Award for Excellent Business Advisory Councils four-star rating. The annual Business-Education Leader Awards honor Business Advisory Councils that stand out for their efforts to create and sustain career-connected learning opportunities for students.

All Ohio school districts and educational service centers have a Business Advisory Council: a group of local school, business, and community leaders who work together to ensure that students’ educational opportunities align with local and state workforce needs, while also providing students with valuable work-based learning opportunities. 

Among many other things, the Business Advisory Council advises and provides recommendations on matters, including:

• the delineation of employment skills and the development of curriculum to instill these skills;
• changes in the economy and in the job market, and the types of employment in which future jobs are most likely to be available; and
• suggestions for developing a working relationship among businesses, labor organizations, and educational personnel.
