Inspiring action virtual summit: supporting educational stability for youth in foster care

As part of Ohio's Family & Community Partnership Liaison program, the ESC is partnering with other educational service centers from around the state to host the free Inspiring Action Virtual Summit: Supporting Educational Stability for Youth in Foster Care on April 6, 2022. The event will bring together educators, agency leaders, providers and caregivers from across the state to: 1) discover tools and insights to be the best school advocate for youth in foster care; 2) explore approaches that encourage resiliency and stability in school and beyond; and 3) gather and share strategies to ensure ESSA policies and practices are prioritized and implemented with fidelity.

The Family and Community Partnership Liaison program is designed to meet the increased needs of vulnerable youth by connecting schools, families and students to community resources and local systems of care. The Ohio Department of Education allocated federal COVID relief funding to the state’s educational service centers to employ a Family and Community Partnership Liaison. All educational service centers have a Liaison designated to identify, create, and sustain partnerships to support vulnerable youth and families in their region. With the support of the Liaison, school districts and educational service centers can foster transformative partnerships with families and communities to improve student wellness, increase family engagement, and serve the whole child.
