Assure appropriate referral, assessment, and identification of referred ELs (English Learners) in the schools.
This presentation will include suggestions for developing a model for appropriate referral and assessment while assuring ELs are not over-identified in Special Education.
This session will equip school psychologists, special education coordinators and EL coordinators with resources to correctly identify English learners who may need Special Education services.
We will look at ODE guidance, MTSS and best practices for identifying students, utilization of appropriate assessment and test interpretation, as well as ways to support ELs with an IEP.
