Due to advancements in cognitive science we know more about how students learn to read than ever before. With this knowledge, comes the responsibility to make changes in our classroom instruction to effectively teach our students how to become strong, independent readers. What exactly is The Science of Reading? How do you apply it in the middle and high school grades? Join Melissa Dickson, Co-Author of "The Instructional Cha-Chas", to discover the basic "what” and "how” of effective reading instruction. During this session you will receive an overview of the science of reading with a focus on vocabulary and comprehension. You'll leave with an understanding how to build your students' foundational reading skills and knowledge-based competencies. We hope you can join us for this 75-minute session!
