Description:

The ESC of Central Ohio, powered by LEGO® Education, is providing professional learning for G1-8 educators in computer science to support the expansion of CS programs in PreK-12 schools that are aligned with Ohio state standards. Teachers will leave with a LEGO® Education SPIKE Essential set and a teacher training kit.

This course is free to any currently licensed teacher in Ohio.

  • 6 Hour In-Person Professional Development Day 1– Tuesday, May 21st 2024, 9am - 4PM

In this professional learning series, teachers will…
  • explore ways a hands-on playful approach to learning can build teacher and student confidence in computer science knowledge and skills.
  • investigate standards aligned lessons designed to help students grow in their understanding of computer science concepts.
  • develop a foundational understanding of computational practices and tips for integration in flexible and appropriate ways across the curriculum.
  • develop strategies for creating a positive classroom culture, including student communication and collaboration when designing computational artifacts.
  • explore strategies in observing student understanding and ways to adjust the curriculum to meet the needs of different learners.
