LETRS Units 5-8 provides teachers with the knowledge needed to master the fundamentals of literacy instruction. Educators will acquire knowledge in the areas of vocabulary, comprehension, writing and language. The expertise you acquire by taking this course will be appreciated by your current and future students and colleagues.

Takeaways from this training include understanding the why and how of providing literacy instruction. The course facilitator will focus strongly on a theory to practice framework.

Volume 2 will be divided into two semesters. During the Spring 2024 sessions, we will learn about Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension. During our Fall 2024 sessions we will learn about text driven comprehension, Instruction and the reading-writing connection.

NOTE: This course will follow a hybrid model. Participants will have the flexibility to complete the course material on their own schedule with a suggested sequence and biweekly zoom meetings to meet and discuss with other participants and the facilitator. Participants will attend a face-to-face session at the end of each unit to participate in hands-on activities and thought partner discussions.

ONLY EMPLOYEES OF MEMBER DISTRICTS OF THE ESCCO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS TRAINING ONLY Participants that have completed previous LETRS Volumes can take this course.
