ESC Helps Create and Expand Pre-Apprenticeship Programs In Central Ohio Districts and Schools
Young person welding. Sparks are flying and creating a blue glow.
The Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (ESC of Central Ohio) received approval from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Service (ODJFS) to create and expand several pre-apprenticeship programs within Central Ohio districts and schools.

Pre-apprenticeship programs are one way districts and schools can offer rich, engaging opportunities to all students to help them plan for their future careers. The ESC worked collaboratively with public agencies, schools, districts, and private businesses to create programs in the following industry sectors: culinary, construction, facilities maintenance, welding, childcare, and information technology.

Current participating districts and schools and their pre-apprenticeship program(s) include:
- The Academy of Urban Scholars | Construction
- Groveport Madison Local Schools | Information Technology
- Hamilton Local Schools | Culinary and Welding
- Hilliard City Schools | Facilities Maintenance
- Reynoldsburg City Schools | Culinary, Childcare, and Information Technology
- Whitehall City Schools | Culinary and Childcare
- Worthington City Schools | Facilities Maintenance

The ESC of Central Ohio is deeply committed to helping districts and schools create pathways that not only give students the skills they need for in-demand jobs after high school graduation but also respond to the economic needs of local businesses and their communities.
