This past spring, the ESC Governing Board approved the hire of Gale Marsh as agency deputy superintendent. Gale comes to the ESC from the Dublin City Schools where he served as the executive director of human resources for six years coordinating all aspects of that department including recruitment and selection of staff, staffing processes, collective bargaining, contract administration, and more. Prior to his post in Dublin, he served with the Olentangy Local Schools for 17 years as executive director of human resources and operations, personnel director, principal, assistant principal, and a 4th-grade teacher. Gale also has several years of private sector experience in operations and employment management.

In his role as deputy superintendent, Gale will support the superintendent in management of the agency and daily internal operations, overseeing internal staff development processes, preparing recommendations to enhance the ESC’s effectiveness, assisting in development of the agency’s continuous improvement plan, and much more. Over the next school year, Gale will be working with Deputy Superintendent Mike Trego to better understand the ESC and its many roles and functions while also providing additional support to member schools and districts. He will assume full deputy superintendent duties upon Mike’s departure in the fall of 2022.

Gale’s formal education includes studies at The Ohio State University, Otterbein University, and the University of Dayton. He also received his superintendent licensure from Ashland University. He resides in Galena with his wife, Margaret, and daughter, Hannah.
