Instructional Coaching

What is Instructional Coaching?

As the landscape of education continues to evolve, Instructional Coaching is an imperative role to support educators in meeting the ever-changing needs of students.

"Coaching done well may be the most effective intervention designed for human performance.''' – Atul GawandeThe ESC of Central Ohio deeply believes in and is committed to supporting those in the role of Instructional Coach for member districts and schools. We align with the models that take a student-centered, partnership approach. Our work is inspired and influenced by the thinking and research of Jim Knight, Elena Aguilar, Diane Sweeney, Cathy Toll, and many others.

"Educational coaches partner with teachers for job-embedded professional learning that enhances teachers' understanding of students, the curriculum, and pedagogy for the purpose of solving problems that impede teacher success and pursuing interests that enhance teacher success." - Cathy Toll

Our Facilitator of Curriculum and Instruction collaborates with and facilitates professional learning for district teams, coaching teams, and individual coaches through on-site differentiated support, coaching series, Instructional Coaching Network, book studies and virtual chats.
