Overview

The 2020 Equity Institute provides you with a safe space to explore ways to achieve educational equity in our schools and districts with your colleagues and peers. In district teams of five or more, you'll learn ways to reflect on, establish, and reinforce equity practices amongst school staff that allow students to achieve to the best of their ability.
 
As a participant you will:
  • Strengthen your knowledge, attitudes, skills, and practices to create culturally responsive learning environments;
  • Develop strategies toward equity goals; and
  • Receive expert guidance and facilitation to address gaps and challenges in educational equity efforts.

What is the Focus?

The four virtual, 3-hour sessions will focus on:
  • Cultural Mindset
  • Student-Centered Teaching and Learning
  • Family and Community Engagement
  • Equity Policies and Practices 

When and Where?

The Equity Institute includes four virtual, 4-hour sessions, all held via Zoom video conferencing.

What is the Cost?

Cost is $1,700 for school district teams of five staff members.

Meet the Facilitator

Cynthia M. DeVese, M.Ed., is a highly regarded professional speaker, trainer, consultant, educator, author and coach. She has worked in education for over 25 years helping students and families navigate their way to and through the education process.
 
She is president and founder of Client Impact, LLC. and LEAP with Cynthia Coaching. She is an administrator for the local school district in Westerville, Ohio and she has held administrator roles with The Ohio State University, a large community college in Virginia, and most recently as the Assistant Dean of Student Life for Ohio Dominican University.
 
Cynthia travels throughout the United States delivering keynote speeches, trainings, and Parent Universities to help parents, mentors, and educators coach their students to academic success. Cynthia provides educator trainings on topics related to equity, diversity and inclusion. Her goal is to assist districts on their journey to achieving equity in schools.
 
She is equally passionate about coaching students on the journey to getting college and career ready.
 
Cynthia lives in Westerville, Ohio with her husband Dr. Larry DeVese and their two young adult children Ayanna and Malik .
