Tech the Halls with 12 Days of AI

Can you believe that ChatGPT just celebrated its first anniversary? Over the past year, generative AI has become available to anyone with an internet connection. 

Since then, hundreds of AI tools, developed specifically for educators, have popped up all over the Web. Wondering which ones are worth trying? “Tech the Halls” this season with these 12, free AI tools designed with educators in mind.

1) ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a conversational language chatbot that is designed to engage in dialogue with users by providing replies and responses to questions and requests. It can be used to plan instruction, create handouts and materials, differentiate materials, write correspondence, create assessments, and generate writing prompts and rubrics. 2) Diffit
Diffit adapts any reading, excerpt, or article for any reading level. It generates informational or narrative texts on any topic for any grade level. The response from a search provides the user with an automatically generated summary, multiple choice, short answer, and open-ended questions, and vocabulary from the text. It also includes the cited sources used to generate the text. Check out Diffit at https://web.diffit.me/

3) Conker
Conker is an AI-powered formative assessment platform from the creators of Mote. It can be used to generate quizzes and formative assessments. Conker’s assessments can be adapted for students from kindergarten through college. The tool provides educators with the ability to edit the assessments that are created, and each question also includes a built-in search link to verify the answer. Quizzes generated by Conker can also be exported into a Google Form. Learn more about Conker at https://www.conker.ai/

4) QuestionWell
QuestionWell is an AI-generated question generator. To generate questions, users copy and paste a reading selection, a link to a reading selection, or a link to a YouTube video. After clicking on “Generate,” learning objectives, essential questions, and multiple-choice assessment questions are provided. Questions can be exported to a variety of tools, such as Google Forms, Quizizz, Kahoot, Canvas, Gimkit, Blooket, and more. Try QuestionWell at https://www.questionwell.org/

5) Curipod
Curipod is an interactive slide presentation tool that creates traditional slides with bullet points, text, and images. It also can produce interactive slides that include activities, such as polls, word clouds, open-ended questions, drawings, and Q & A. 6) Twee
Twee is an AI-powered tool designed primarily for English teachers. It can create questions for any YouTube video. Twee also generates dialogues, stories, letters, or articles on any topic at any level. The tool also can identify interesting discussion questions, facts, and quotes by famous people related to a topic. Explore Twee at https://twee.com/

7) Perplexity
Perplexity is an AI-powered search engine that provides a real-time search of the web. The tool also cites sources used to provide the answer. Check out Perplexity at https://www.perplexity.ai/

8) Goblin Tools
Goblin Tools includes a collection of six, small, simple, single-task tools. The tools include the Judge, the Formalizer, Magic ToDo, the Estimator, the Compiler, and the Chef. Learn more about Goblin Tools at https://goblin.tools/.

9) SchoolAI
SchoolAI is an AI-powered tool that provides a variety of customized documents, such as lesson plans, multiple-choice quizzes, and worksheets. It also offers tools that level texts and generate story and word problems. Try SchoolAI at https://schoolai.com/.

10) EduaideAI
EduaideAI is a robust tool that generates over 100 types of teaching resources and learning objects. It includes items that can be used to streamline administrative tasks, plan instruction, present information, create independent practice, design cooperative learning, develop instructional games, and assess student learning. 11) MagicSchool.AI
MagicSchool.AI is an AI-powered platform with 50+ tools designed to aid teachers with lesson planning, assessment writing, differentiating, communicating, and personalizing learning. 12) Canva’s Magic Studio
Canva refers to its Magic Studio as an AI-powered teaching assistant. The suite includes tools to engage students (Magic Animate, Magic Grab, and Magic Media), to save time (Magic Write, Magic Design for Presentations, and Magic Switch), and to easily edit (Magic Edit, Magic Morph, and Magic Expand). Megan Ash serves as the Coordinator of Digital Learning at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio. In this role, Ash has been involved with the development, delivery, and support of online courses offered to professional educators throughout the state of Ohio. She also provides support for member districts in online and blended learning as well as in technology integration. Megan earned an M.S. in strategic leadership and a B.S. in education. Additionally, she holds an Ohio teaching license and is a certified Google Level 1 and Level 2 Educator, a Quality Matters trainer and facilitator, and an Apple Educator and Apple Education Trainer.
