The Ohio Reading Corps and Ohio Math Corps are programs funded by AmeriCorps and managed through the ESC of Central Ohio. Our programs train AmeriCorps Members and place them in schools, where they provide literacy support to K-3 students (ORC) or math support to K-5 students (OMC) daily from October through June.
 

If your school is interested in hosting a member to provide tutoring, please complete and submit the request form.

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more.

Approximately 75,000 Americans across the country participate in AmeriCorps each year. All of them are tackling different community needs in different ways.

What will a volunteer do at my school?

When will the member be at my school?
Members are placed in schools to provide reading support everyday from October through June. They serve 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, for a total of 900 hours per year.

How many students will the member work with?
Members typically work with 10-30 students total in small group settings or 1:1.

How much does it cost?
The district cost per member is $5,000 per year.
