ESCs Statewide Partnering on Tutor Ohio Kids

On recent national tests, Ohio students scored at the lowest levels seen in decades due to impacts of the pandemic and beyond. Our kids are falling behind and while schools and educators are working hard to catch them up, they need help.

Effective in 2022, Ohio's House Bill 583 required the state Superintendent of Public Instruction to establish a program to provide tutoring and remedial education services to students in participating public and chartered nonpublic schools.  That program is Tutor Ohio Kids. Tutor Ohio Kids is being coordinated by the ESC of Central Ohio in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, other regional educational service centers (ESCs), school districts and schools.

As of today, March 27th, 11 ESCs have partnered to focus on accelerating learning for students who were most impacted by the pandemic and beyond. We are working to expand this partnership even further. The partnership currently includes the following ESCs from around the state:
  • Athens-Meigs ESC
  • ESC of Central Ohio
  • ESC of Lake Erie West
  • ESC of Lorain County
  • ESC of Northeast Ohio
  • ESC of the Western Reserve
  • Hamilton County ESC
  • North Central Ohio ESC
  • Muskingum Valley ESC
  • Stark County ESC
  • Summit ESC
