The ParaPro Assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing and math possessed by prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction. It was designed to satisfy the requirements of federal law.
Who takes it?
The test is for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. Additional information can be found at under Educational Aide and Student Monitor Permits or by clicking here.
How long Is It?
Test takers have 2.5 hours to complete the test.
What subjects are on the test?
Test subjects include reading, writing and math.
What are the questions like?
The test has 90 multiple-choice questions, approximately two-thirds of which focus on basic skills and knowledge. The remaining one-third focus on applying skills in the classroom. All test questions are in English.
How is the test given?
The test is delivered on computers provided by the testing center.
Where is the test given?
The test is offered once a month in Columbus, Ohio at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio.
What are the testing dates?
Testing dates are scheduled on a monthly bases throughout the 2018-2019 school year. Click a date below to register for that event.

All tests begin at 1 p.m. Please arrive 10 minutes early for seating and test orientation.
How much does it cost?
The testing fee is $55, paid by credit card during registration. The fee is nonrefundable. You may also mail a check, made payable to ESCCO, to the address below:

How are scores reported?
Unofficial scores are available onscreen and can be printed at the end of the test. The official score report comes approximately 2–3 weeks after the test date via the email address provided when you registered for the assessment. A copy of your score is automatically sent to the ODE’s teacher credentialing office.
