RE Mentor Academy Day One and Day Two
Target Audience: Required for ODE-certified Resident Educator Mentors
RE Mentor Academy Day One is the first day of the two-day mentor academy. The first day focuses on Mentors as Learners: the knowledge and skills mentors must know to be able to effectively mentor Resident Educators. RE Mentor Academy Day.
RE Mentor Academy Day One is a prerequisite for this second day of training. The training focus is Mentors as Decision Makers. Mentors apply the knowledge and skills learned in day one to design, practice and implement tailored mentoring support to accelerate Resident Educator teaching practices. RE Mentor Academy Day Two replaces RE-1: Resident Educator-1.

RESA 101: Tips and Strategies for High-Quality Responses
Designed for Year-3 Resident Educators and/or RESA Facilitators, get an overview of the RESA tasks and the Rubrics used to assess the tasks. Join Literacy Specialist, Rachel Lang as she shares tips and strategies for writing high quality responses to the questions using the rubrics in conjunction with actual classroom data. State Trainer, Carole Marsh will share the format for the RESA as well as videotaping tips and lessons learned over the past three years of the RESA. They will also highlight any changes to the process for the 2016-2017 RESA.
RESA Network Series
Specifically designed for Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) Facilitators and Year-3 REs, join us for an overview and a deeper dive into learning more about the required elements of RESA. Resident Educators (REs) will be required to demonstrate how to plan and implement a lesson focused on achievement of instructional outcomes for diverse groups of students by submitting various required components (lesson overview, evidence, video, analysis) of Lesson Cycle 1. Learn facilitator strategies critical to supporting RE’s success in capturing their teaching performance with accuracy and depth through videos, artifacts and written commentaries. Facilitators attending MUST have completed the ODE online RESA Facilitator Certification course. RESA Participant Handbook will be provided. The sessions will be facilitated by RE state trainers.
Mentor REfresh and REnew
The purpose of this blended learning opportunity is to support and enhance the work of Ohio’s Instructional Mentors who completed the face-to-face training requirements. Such mentors include those who attended Instructional Mentoring and Resident Educator – 1 in the period of June, 2011 through 2014. It is also designed to support those mentors who attended Resident Educator Mentoring Academy Day 1 and Resident Educator Mentoring Academy Day 2 which became available in June of 2015. It is not a substitute for Mentor Academy certification. Resident Educator Program Coordinators, RESA Facilitators and Building Principals, especially those who have not attended face-face mentor training, should find this course to be an excellent way to expand their general knowledge of the program and to deepen their understanding of the expectations for effective service as an Ohio Instructional Mentor. Lunch is included. Participants will need to bring their own digital personal device. Facilitated by Wendy Nichols and James Scott.
Learn to Lead – Transforming Teachers to Leaders
Join us for a blended learning dive into the “Learn to Lead” course by ODE. This learning experience is designed to put your past teaching experiences in perspective and challenge you to transform your thinking and continue your journey to excellence. Explore research-based teacher leadership practices and resources to help you plan and carryout leadership explorations. This blended learning opportunity is focused on supporting RESA completers but also may also be of interest to Instructional Mentors, RE Program Coordinators, veteran teachers, school principals, district leadership or any teacher wishing to expand their understanding of research-based practice in teacher leadership. ODE Advanced Mentor Teacher Modules
Target Audience: Principals
Written by principals, for principals, explore the principal’s critical supportive role in the Resident Educator Program and learn alignment of principal engagement with the RE Program to OPES.
Analysis of Student Work
Target Audience: RE Mentor Teachers and Program Coordinators (but available to anyone) Understand and collaboratively participate in the analysis of student work. Learn to make connections among student work responses and lesson design decisions and move beyond correcting and tracing trends and patterns.
Providing Effective Feedback for Professional Growth
Providing deliberate, focused and transformative feedback to Resident Educators is critical. Learn how to construct effective feedback that supports REs as they progress from guided reflective conversation to self-reflection on practice.
