State Educator Evaluation Systems

The ESC of Central Ohio provides credential training in alignment with the state educator evaluation systems. Trainings include:

  • Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 1.0 (OTES 1.0) - three-day training for new evaluators in original OTES
  • Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 2.0 (OTES 2.0) - three-day training for new evaluators in OTES 2.0
  • Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 2.0 Bridge - two-day training for experienced, credentialed evaluators in districts implementing OTES 2.0
  • Ohio Principal Evaluation System (OPES) - two-day training
  • Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES) - one-day training

OTES 1.0 | Ohio Teacher Evaluation System Training (original version for new evaluators)

The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) Evaluator Training will prepare an evaluator of teachers for effective, high quality and consistent staff evaluation using the OTES Model aligned to the OTES Framework as adopted by the State Board of Education in November 2011. To become a credentialed evaluator of teachers in the State of Ohio, an individual must be properly licensed or LEA approved as a peer evaluator, participate in the three-day state-sponsored evaluator training and pass an online credentialing assessment. Upon successful completion of the training (attendance for all three days is REQUIRED), participants will have access to the online assessment. The three-day state-sponsored OTES training will provide a better understanding of the OTES Framework; allow practice of skills such as scripting, evidence analysis/categorizing and coaching; and allow for sharing of resources and best practices in educator evaluation. Lunch is provided on-site for training participants. Registration is $260.00, payable to the ESC of Central Ohio.
 
This three-day training led by State Trainers is required for all new evaluators in districts NOT implementing OTES 2.0 for the 2020-2021 school year.  Registration is through STARS.

OTES 2.0 |  Ohio Teacher Evaluation System Training (2.0 version for new evaluators)

The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) Evaluator Training will prepare an evaluator of teachers, as defined by the role you serve in a Local Educational Agency (LEA), for effective, high quality and consistent staff evaluation using the OTES 2.0 Model.   To become a credentialed evaluator of teachers in the State of Ohio, an individual must be properly licensed, or LEA approved as a peer evaluator, participate in the three-day state-sponsored evaluator training and pass an on-line credentialing assessment.  Upon successful completion of the training (attendance for all three days of the training is REQUIRED), participants will have access to the on-line assessment.  The three-day state sponsored OTES 2.0 training will provide a better understanding of the OTES 2.0 Framework and Model, allow practice of skills such as scripting, evidence analysis/categorizing, coaching, data conversations and allow for sharing of resources and best practices in educator evaluation. There will be no cost for this training.  Lunch will be on your own.  Participants will receive 18 contact hours.

This three-day training led by State Trainers is required for all new evaluators in districts implementing 2.0 for the 2020-2021 school year.  Registration is through STARS.

OTES 2.0 Bridge | Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 2.0 Bridge Training  (for experienced, credentialed evaluators transitioning to 2.0)

The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 2.0 Bridge Training is required for existing OTES 1.0 credentialed evaluators to address shifts with OTES 2.0.  Bridge Training is a pathway that leads to OTES 2.0 re-credentialing with the objectives of:  1.)  Promoting an understanding of the procedures within OTES 2.0 and how they differ from OTES 1.0.   2.) Promoting an understand and application of the OTES 2.0 teacher performance rubric while learning to collect evidence that demonstrates teacher performance.  3.) Applying lessons learned and best practices from OTES 2.0 implementation to date.  4.)  Learning about and identifying High Quality Student Data (HQSD).   Upon completion of the OTES 2.0 Bridge Training evaluators (participants) may re-credential through the new on-line credentialing system.  The OTES 2.0 Bridge Training will provide a better understanding of the OTES 2.0 Framework and Model, allow practice of skills and allow for sharing of resources and best practices in educator evaluation. There will be no cost for this training.  Lunch will be on your own.  Participants will receive 12 contact hours.

This two-day training led by State Trainers is required for all experienced, credentialed evaluators who have completed the original OTES three-day training.  This session will provide information related to the transition from the original OTES Framework, rubric, and model to the new OTES 2.0 Framework, rubric, and model.  Registration is through STARS.

OPES | Ohio Principal Evaluation System Evaluator Training

This is the two-day training session required for evaluators using the Ohio Principal Evaluation System. The intended audience is superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, and other central office staff.  Participants who attend both days of training will be prepared to take the online credentialing test required to conduct principal evaluation. Lunch is on your own. Registration is $125, payable to the ESC of Central Ohio.
 

This two-day training led by State Trainers is required to become a credentialed evaluator for principals.  Registration is through STARS.

OSCES | Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System Evaluator Training

Participants will learn about the Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System. Within this system, the performance of each school counselor is evaluated based on multiple factors derived from the standards, as well as their ability to produce positive student outcomes measured by locally determined metrics. Lunch is on your own. This full-day workshop is $125 per participant, payable to the ESC of Central Ohio.
 
This one-day training led by State Trainers is required to become a credentialed evaluator for school counselors.  Registration is through STARS.
