C-DAP | Bachelor's Plus Program

This pathway is for ESC operated classroom employees who hold a bachelor's degree in any field other than education. The ESC has partnered with local universities to offer these individuals an opportunity to attain an Intervention Specialist (IS) license through a Bachelor’s plus program.

What is a Bachelor's Plus Program?

The local universities offer coursework and field experiences that will lead to an Intervention Specialist license in either mild/moderate or moderate/intensive. This coursework will be offered both in-person and online throughout the program.

Employee Participation Requirements

Employees must meet the following requirements:

ESC Requirements
  • Must be working as an ESC Teacher Assistant or Pool Substitute.
  • Receive a recommendation from their coordinator.
  • Complete the ESC intent application.
  • Sign the contract.
University Requirements
  • Applicants must have earned a Bachelor’s degree and provide official transcripts from all schools attended.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is required.  
  • An interview with the graduate education recruiter.

How long do I have to be employed by the ESC of Central Ohio to qualify for this program?
6 months.

What is the delivery model for courses?
Hybrid. Both in-person and online.

Will the ESC provide technology for use during my degree program?
Yes, degree participants will be issued a laptop.

What courses are required to begin the Bachelor's Plus program?
The local universities will complete an individualized transcript audit to identify if courses are required prior to starting the Bachelor’s Plus Program. 

What type of support is provided from the local university?
Personalized application assistance. Monthly virtual office hours

What type of support is provided by the ESC of Central Ohio?
The ESC will provide support in partnership with the local university. The ESC will hold monthly office hours to support employees.

Is there an employment commitment with the ESC of Central Ohio upon completing the degree pathway to Special Education licensure?
Yes, all employees that participate in this program are required to work for the ESC for 3 years after the completion of the degree program.

Will I be required to repay the ESC of Central Ohio if I do not fulfill the 3-year post-degree employment requirement of 3 years?
Yes, please review the agreement link.

Does the ESC cover any application expenses?
Yes, the ESC provides funds to cover the application fee and transcript request.

Can I work on coursework during my workday?
No, university coursework is to be completed after or before your 7.5-hour contract day.

Will I continue to get paid for my contracted ESC position while completing the coursework?
Yes, you will still get paid by the ESC for your contracted position.
